Premijera novog singla Rundeka i Cargo trija

video

Interview with Loco Dice - When I’m offline, I’m offline

Digital has profoundly affected the musical world, how has it affected you?
First thing that I can think of is the amount of music that I receive, hear and can play. It certainly gives opportunity to lots of young producers to be heard. Digital also gave me the opportunity to develop my skills by implementing the technology that came with the digital age of spreading music and actually, as a DJ, go far beyond borders that were simply defined by the technique just few years ago.

Beyond music digital has become a way of life, with social media and non-stop communication. How has your participation in this world changed your life both publicly and privately?
I think it changed my life not more or less than everyone life now days, we have access to so much information, fast, but when I’m offline, I’m offline.

A gig is always a give and take between artist and audience. What do you take home from a gig and what do you hope your audience does?
I hope that we all have a great time riding the same wave, go somewhere where we’ve never been before, laugh, dance, suffer, love together and when it happens, I definitely take home a confidence that I’m doing the right thing.

The music scene is constantly generating new genre labels. How have you been labeled? What label would you give yourself?
I’ve been labeled as minimal guy and this still happens today. It feels strange because I always played lots of chunky house in my sets, tried to capture that feeling in my productions and when I think of minimal, there are so many other great artists that stand for it. I mean, I can live with it, it’s just a genre label. If you feel it, it doesn’t really matter how you label it.

You play at Space Ibiza. What do you think makes Ibiza so special?
There are so many stories and individual experiences relating to Ibiza. It’s an old island, magic place with beautiful nature and calm people. Not easy to describe and you definitely have to see and feel it.

The Carl Cox night at Space is called The Revolution Continues. What was your most revolutionary experience in the music scene? What do you want to do that is revolutionary? What would you change about the world if you could?
My most revolutionary experience was hip-hop when I was a kid. Changing the world. My way of life, music, art, record label and a management agency that I’m involved with, that’s my way to change the world, with art, music, free spirit.

What is the coolest thing in your house?
A custom made record rack with best records ever.

If you weren’t involved in music, what could imagine doing instead?
Breaking Ronaldo’s record in this World Cup or just owing and running the coolest restaurant.
Do you practice any rituals before you perform? Are you superstitious?
I don’t practice any rituals, but I’m superstitious ;)
What’s the worst item of clothing you’ve ever worn?
Firsts
What was the first music you ever purchased?
First music I bought was some Madonna/Michael Jackson megamix. It was the week when I also bought my first funk & sould mixtapes.

Who was your favorite group when you where twelve?
When I was 12 Michael Jackson was the one.
What was the first concert you attended?
My first concert was Jimmy Cliff in Carthage Coloseum Tunis.
Who’s your all-time hero and why?
Is and will be always my MOM.

The Carl Cox Interview - I live to play music

“Digital” has profoundly affected the musical world, how has it affected you?
A lot! I’m now able to become a lot more creative as a DJ. I also can take more music with me. Also the problem with stolen records doesn’t happen again at the airport. I never miss a gig again because of this.
Also sharing music is wonderful. The only ones that are upset are the major labels. We don’t have a choice than to go with this development and embrace it. Also, when people spread my live DJ sets via the Internet, It’s just how it is and we cannot stop it. My new album is coming out soon, and we hope we can at least get the production costs back by the sales. Nowadays, you do not make money anymore by selling music; it’s about other ways a musician has to make money.
The digital development is running fast. Now I have this iPhone 3gs, which is working perfectly, but there is already the next generation to come, even faster, even better. We have to go with it. I personally embrace it.

Beyond music “digital” has become a way of life, with social media and non-stop communication. How has your participation in this world changed your life both publicly and privately?

My life has changed a lot. With video conference calls, using Skype all around the globe, talking to your girlfriend while she’s on the other side of the planet and watching her on the screen or your mobile. Before, we never had the chance to do that without a lot of money, e.g. by setting up a satellite connection. Also on social networks like Facebook or Linked In, people can connect much easier – but also you don’t have to use it. Some people prefer to still do a simple phone call or meet face to face at a bar. For sure, there are also bad effects, for example the case you meet somebody virtually who might want to kill you. So: If anybody looks a bit strange on my Facebook fanpage, I delete him or her.

A gig is always a give and take between artist and audience. What do you take home from a gig and what do you hope your audience does?

I live to play music. I love to give a little piece of my soul to the audience. I love my music equipment, the turntables, the cd players, and the computer. I want to take the audience on a journey- I love people dancing, smiling, and kissing when I play the music. It’s one of the best things I have to give; it’s part of my soul.

The music scene is constantly generating new genre labels. How have you been labeled? What label would you give yourself?

I have always been labeled as a techno DJ, even if I play Salsa. Techno has many guises; it’s an umbrella for Techno-Rock, Techno-Electro, Techno-Reggae, Tech-House and so on. All this is made by technology, no matter how we see it. It could be Speed Heavy Metal Reggae Techno. It’s just a combination of Electronic Music.

Ibiza has always brought together people and artists from different walks of life and from all over the globe to experience something extraordinary. What do you think makes Ibiza so special?

It’s such a small beautiful island in the Mediterranean, which has grown into one of the most prolific. It has a special spirit, which makes people think: OH this is amazing. You have the choice to hear what you want to hear. You also can choose to watch a beautiful sunset or lie down at the beach and dream without music. Be and do what you want! The people make this so special. Ibiza can be the worst place on earth, if you don't go with it. It really can open your eyes, so you come back as another person. I’ve been a part of the island since 1994 and Space is the most forward thinking club.

The Carl Cox night at Space is called The Revolution Continues. What was your most revolutionary experience in the music scene? What do you want to do that is revolutionary?

For many years as a DJ of this music, we had to fight for our right to party. There was the establishment, which didn’t want to give us the licenses to do a party, especially in the UK. There always was a negative aspect to this kind of music because of some people doing drugs. What we have to fight for is taking this thing more serious than the music itself. I only do all this because I love the music. It’s hard work and a lot of self-belief when you are a DJ of this music. 'Join Our Revolution' was so strong last year because the people believe in what I believe in. We want to spread the word of what I feel is somehow our culture. We need to fight and defend our culture.

What would you change about the world if you could?

We must help each other on our planet. The topic is poverty. At the moment, we first need a disaster, and then everybody comes and tries to help the people in Haiti or New Orleans or in the countries, which have been affected by the Tsunami in 2004. We need to act first, help the people out of their poverty, before they have the problems. People who have less than others whether there is a disaster or not.

What is the coolest thing in your house?
My bathroom.

If you weren’t involved in music, what could imagine doing instead?
I’d be a chef.

Do you practice any rituals before you perform? Are you superstitious?
No at all.
What’s the worst item of clothing you’ve ever worn?
I admit the leg warmers in the 80s... hahaha

What was the first music you ever purchased? Who was your favorite group when you where twelve? What was the first concert you attended?

The first music I purchased was Diana Ross and the Supremes. My favorite group was T-Rex – with Marc Bolan. Unfortunately he died in 1977 in a car accident in his girlfriend´s Mini. My first concert was The Police.

Who’s your all-time hero and why?

It’s Muhammad Ali. He was so amazing. When he was boxing, you never saw anything like that. But he also was a believer of rights. He refused to go to the army because he didn't accept why he should go, only because some other people told him to shoot at other people. He was very strong, which had a huge impact on me.

What’s your musical “guilty pleasure?”
That’s old Funk and Soul music. Whenever you get a chance to listen to my iPod, you will hear Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Isaac Hayes, the early Jackson 5 and the likes. This is also what I grew up with.

Faithless... Come Together... only on PRO FM!

Cjelokupan Faithless line-up je tu – Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss i Rollo. Najpoznatiji po svojim dance pjesmama "Insomnia", "God Is a DJ" i "We Come 1", Faithless su do sada snimili pet studijskih albuma, nudeći širok spektar različitih muzičkih stilova. Tokom karijere prodali su preko 12 milona nosača zvuka širom svijeta. Njihov šesti po redu album "The Dance" predstavlja i neke izuzetne goste, uključujući Dougy Mandagi (The Temper Trap), Dido (na 2 miksa), Blancmange, Johny 'Ithc' Foxa (The King Blue) i Miu Maestro.

Album se zapravo zove "The Dance Never Ends". Dvoumili smo se oko toga. Imao sam želju da ga nazovem samo “The Dance”, jer sam razmišljao “napravili smo dance album” i to bi bilo isto kao da smo napisali knjigu i nazvali je jednostavno "The Book". Na kraju smo postigli kompromis:  Na naslovnici je "The Dance" na zadnjoj strani dodatak  "Never Ends".
Kako je nastao "The Dance"?

As a part of “Come Together” in Space Ibiza, night designed for those who are in love with the idea of a mass fusion of electro, techno, indie, house and every other hybrid genre – tomorrow night will be the night of band who are back on the scene after short pause – Faithless! And their only goal is… To takeover dance floor, yet again!
Complet Faithless line-up is there – Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo. Famous by it’s dance songs "Insomnia", "God Is a DJ" i "We Come 1", Faithless recorded until now 5 albums, with wide range of different musical styles. During past years they sold out over 12 million album over the world. Their 6th album "The Dance" presents some extraordinary guests, including Dougy Mandagi (The Temper Trap), Dido (2 mix), Blancmange, Johny 'Ithc' Foxa (The King Blue) and Miu Maestro.  Songs from the new album you can listen on http://www.myspace.com/faithless, and below part of zje interview that you can hear entirely on Monday on PRO FM. Our guest is Maxi Jazz.
How it came to the title of your new album?
It’s actually called „The Dance Never Ends“. We had a bit of a row over that. As well I wanted to call it „The Dance“ and I thought like having made a dance album that was a bit like writing a book and calling it „The Book“. So we reached the compromise: It says „The Dance“ on the front and „Never Ends“ on the back.
What motivation is behind "The Dance"? How do your tests in advance the Hitfactor of the new tracks?
That’s exactly the way to put it. We call it road testing but that’s exactly what it is. When you gonna come back with an album obviously you want it to be strong. When you haven’t done anything for three years so they worked so hard, particularly on the dance tracks of this record, getting the sounds, getting the feel right. And I think they’ve done a great job, personally. This album is a statement of what Faithless is about, definitely. But it is also just a great big thank you to our fans and say: Take this, enjoy!
How is a typical Faithless-Track done?
It can happen all sorts of ways. But I would say the most typical, the average way that we would do it is that Blissy and Rollo will work on tracks in the studio until they’ve got maybe six, seven backing tracks. Then they’ll come around to my house or go to the studio an we’ll listen to’em and we’ll kick ideas around. Like Rollo saying: ‚Ah, this track reminds me of driving! This track reminds me of a man upset over losing his girl, just really sad.’ Whatever. And we’ll kick some ideas around. For this album I had eight, nine tracks on a CD and in January 2009 I went to Jamaica for about four weeks and I’ve hung out with my mom in the new house by the ocean. It’s beautiful, it’s so peaceful – I mean SO peaceful – and I wrote alle the words there pretty much. 90 per cent of the words I wrote in Jamaica, come home, rang’em up, said: ‚Come around and finish!’ and we did the thing and it worked really, really well. The typical way is that once the voice is on the backing track they will then build the music up around the words to amplify if you like musically what I’m saying lyrically. They’re really good at that…

Layo and Bushwacka eksluzivno za PRO FM: Spremamo poseban DJ set za Crnu Goru!

Engleski DJ dvojac Layo Paskina i Matthew "Bushwacka” nije potrebno predstavljati. Rezdenti su klubova poput The End (London), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Womb (Tokyo) i naravno Space (Ibiza).

On je jedinstven producent i osoba takođe. Radili smo s njim mnogo puta.

Nakon uspjeha zadnjeg izdanja "The Longest Day"  uradili ste 'Femme Fatale' plus dodatni remix "The Longest Day" by Audiofly?
Audiofly's miks “The Longest Day” je bio fantastičan.

Kako vidite Layo and Bushwacka zvuk u narednih nekoliko godina?
Sasvim sigurno! Pričekajte i vidjećete!
Vatreni ste fanovi Arsenala.

You will be a part of huge musical movement The Revolution of Carl Cox on Ibiza. How do you feel being a part of this great idea with many great musicians?
Honored. Carl is a long time friend of mine since i started DJing in ‘88 and I have been going to his night on the Island since it started and it has always been really special. This is the first time we are playing together there and for both of us it a really exciting gig, and one we have been looking forward to for a very long time.

Music without border is a strong and powerful message, as well the opportunity to meet your colleagues and share your experiences?
For us it is fantastic as we have always followed this philosophy with our music production and have never been pigeonholed. So it is a perfect outline for our musical message.
For Carl Cox Ibiza is a place without borders, with „citizents“ who doesn’t have color, rase, gender etc. How do you see Ibiza, and what are your experiences?
Ibiza is a magical island. It is stunning, healing, and yet it is a place which attracts people from all over the world to come and party and the energy for this is like nowhere else on the planet. I have been going and playing there since 1989 and although it has changed quite a lot the energy is still there and it is a truly wonderful island.
Trough your music you have expressed also admiration towards Brazil and Rio?
Yes, both Layo and I have a very strong connection with Brasil. For both of us it is our second home. We have a great following there, many good friends and so many good memories already.

During The Revolution, public had the opportunity to hear Green Velvet, with whom you have worked on ‘Life2Live’ single. How was working with him?
We love Curtis (aka Green Velvet). He is a unique producer and person also.  We have gigged with him many times. We were working with him we recorded the track, then he recorded the vocals and we added them in and messed with them for the final product.
By the mid 90s you have started writing tracks together and working as a duo. How difficult was starting DJ carrier back then? Being DJ wasn’t so popular as it is today?
I guess it may be a lot harder now as everyone is a DJ. But we both had a lot of experience from a long time ago, and working together was a natural progression from what we were doing individually.
Following the success of last release ‘The Longest Day’ you made ‘Femme Fatale’ plus an additional remix of ‘The Longest Day’ by Audiofly? Can you tell us something more on these tracks?
Femme fatale was much inspired from early eighties electronic music and we added this style to our own production sound.  The reaction on the dance floor to this tune was huge. Audiofly's mix of the longest day was fantastic. Perfect for after hours and 5am sets.
With many emerging young artists and so many music around you, how difficult is to stay fresh and original with the tracks, and jet successful?
It is difficult, especially as we have been producing for such a long time - to stay fresh and exciting, because often we can find things repeated from early years of recording, but there are always new ideas, fresh sounds, and great twists on older styles to make something new and creative.
What is Layo’s strength?
For me Layo's greatest strength is his ability to bring out the positive in me and in all that we do. He has an amazing level headedness that keeps us strong and helps make the right decisions.
How did you manage to stay together and united for all these years? What’s the recipe?
We can always see each other's point of view, even if not straight away and we both bring the best out of each other to keep the balance.
You tend to experiment with the sound. How do you see Layo and Bushwacka sound in next few years?
So many new ideas and musical directions.  We will be working closely with some other labels in the future, instead of seleasing everything ourselves.  It is time to branch out and get our music across to new audiences.
With the joy of your fans we can announce that on your summer schedule is a Montenegro date. 13th of August you will visit us and play for all your fans here. This is your first visit here. How do you prepare yourself for the sets in countries that you are for the first time?
We have a great sound as DJ's and are confident that we can do a fantastic job entertaining audiences anywhere in the world.
Are you going to prepare for us some special DJ set?
FOR SURE. WAIT AND SEE!!
I read that you are big Arsenal fans. Next October Montenegrin football team will have a match with England team. How did you saw England on World cup and what are your predictions regarding the match with our team?
England were awful in the World Cup, I am sorry to say!  Anything could happen in that match!!!

Istu nagradu osvaja i naredne godine čime dokazuje opravdan kvalitet i vještinu miksanja.
